Dear past self…

Have you ever had a glimpse of your past & wondered what the HELL were you thinking? By accident I signed into an old Facebook account that I hadn’t used in years & it triggered memories of my old self. In a way it was a good thing because I felt like I was looking into the mirror of a STRANGER, which could only mean that I’ve done a lot of growing since then. (Thank god).

I saw my past self as someone lost looking for validation; conforming to other people’s ideas & trying to people please my way through life. I saw myself settling & accepting disrespect just to “fit in”. I also noticed that the people that are no longer in my life have not changed & in a lot of ways it was reassuring to know that I am no longer on that path. & it’s not that I think I’m better than anyone else, it’s simply that my journey was meant to go in a different direction.

I forgive my past self for my mistakes. I immediately deactivated the account & plan to also permanently delete it, but I suppose I was meant to come across it in order to appreciate where I am now as well as where I am going. As much as it hurt to revisit the past, I am grateful & motivated to continue on my mission.

Dear past self, it’s been a long hard road & although we’ve invested a lot of time together & have learned so much, it is time for me to say goodbye. Even though I resent you in a lot of ways, I forgive you & thank you, for I would not be who I am today if it were not for you.

& to my future self, I welcome you with open arms as you are wiser, stronger, & have so much love to give & life to live.

“The best is yet to come.”

Namaste
